SIR: I believed that Bolton Council gave themselves a licence to print money when they put a price on virtually every parking 'space' in their town centre. But, since reading your report, I am now very confused, or have I done my sums wrong?
An annual income of £1,700,000 from more than 7,000 spaces available 52 weeks a year, six shopping days every week, averages that each space is worth less than 78p per day. I find this very hand to believe when I remember Christmas shopping, which cost me almost £5 per visit and when I queued for 10 mins to pay for an hour's worth of space, when I needed only 10 mins and the next car probably paid again for the same time.
Please tell me that I have made a mistake with my reckoning, because if I haven't, then I'm sure Bolton Council must have?
