TRAINS could be pulling in and out of Pendleton station between Bolton and Salford again if Salford councillors get their way.
They are calling on Railtrack - the new owners of the disused station - to re-open it. The station was closed in 1994 by Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive.
The councillors believe the station would help efforts to spruce up the area and the move would also be in line with the authority's transport policy which aims to reduce dependence on cars.
Pendleton steering group member, Cllr Joe Holt, said: "There is no sense in mothballing a railway station at a time when it has been recognised we need to have less reliance on cars."
