BOLTON Institute has appointed 27-year-old Georgeene Eastwood as Marketing and Public Relations Officer.

Blackburn-born Georgeene, who lives in Sedgeley Park, Manchester, has joined the Institute's Marketing and External Relations Unit from Manchester Metropolitan University and will be promoting the Institute's own bid for university status. She was Marketing and Publicity Officer for the university's Faculty of Science and Engineering, which covers nine departments, 7, 000 students and 2,000 staff.

Georgeene was previously Marketing and PR Officer for the Civic Trust in the North-west from July, 1993 to March, 1995.

She is now back at "the Met" - formerly Manchester Polytechnic - working part-time for an MA in Marketing Management to add to her BSc (Hons) degree in Hotel Catering and Management and post graduate diploma in Tourism. Outside interests include swimming and horse riding.

"I am looking forward to helping to promote awareness of Bolton Institute and supporting its bid for university status," she said.

Her name, Georgeene, is an amalgam of those of her parents - George and Irene.
