THE vicious sex killer of Bolton prostitute Angela Heyes may have "stored" her body for several days after her murder, police have revealed.

Murder squad detectives believe the tragic 33-year-old was probably kept indoors before her strangled and semi-naked body was dumped in a moorland lay-by on the outskirts of Bolton.

A post mortem revealed that Angela had been dead for some time before the killer hid her body behind a wall in the lay-by - a popular spot with courting couples - off Stones Bank Road, north of Egerton. She had been violently sexually assaulted before her death. Detectives are working on the possible theory that Angela was killed in Bolton but as yet they have not discovered where she met her death.

Police today released a computer enhanced graphic of Angela in the clothing she was last seen wearing on January 5. The clothing, including her shoes and handbag and a "YESS" Quartz watch are still missing. The watch, which has a brown leather strap, was one of four she bought as presents shortly before Christmas.

A neighbour saw Angela leaving her bedsit home in Park Road, Bolton, at 1.45pm. She flagged down a black taxi cab and is believed to have been driven into Bolton town centre where she was well known. A man who knew Angela spotted her in the Blue Boar pub in Deansgate, 15 minutes later. She was then seen in the King William IV pub in Manchester Road, opposite Burnden Park, where she stayed for several hours. She is thought to have left the pub about 8pm.

Angela, who was 5ft 6ins tall, slim build with dark short hair was last seen wearing a short black waist length jacket in a knitted "loop style", a dark coloured floor length skirt, a white blouse and ankle length boots.

Angela, who was also known as Shelley, also wore a blonde wig on occasions.

Detectives want to speak to the taxi driver who picked her up or anyone who drove her away from the King William.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact the police incident room on 0161 856 5962 or Crimestoppers on the freephone number 0800 555 111.

Detectives hunting the killer of Angela may liaise with police questioning a lorry driver over one of a series of ripper-style murders across Britain.
