UPER League beware - Wigan's powerhouse centre Va'aiga Tuigamala is aiming to be meaner and leaner this summer.

The former All Black ended the Centenary League in devastating form but says there is much more room for improvement.

That prospect will leave many defences quaking in their boots as they are already finding it difficult to contain the 17 stone juggernaut.

Since his arrival two seasons ago at Central Park the amiable Kiwi has knuckled down to training and his hard work is paying dividends in his performances - but he is still far from satisfied. "The game is like life, you never stop learning. I set myself a personal goal and that is to come out a better player than when I first arrived. I am coming up to the start of my third year and have put a lot of effort into my training to try and improve my all round game," he said.

"When you look around at guys like Shaun Edwards and Gary Connolly, they are complete footballers. I want to be like them and help repay the club for the faith they have put in me.

"There is still room for a big improvement on my side.

"Certainly speed and agility are the things I am looking to improve upon for summer rugby. I am looking at losing 3-4 kilos so that my body can take the impact of the harder ground and I want to be a lot faster. Tuigamala underlined his commitment to succeed when he added: "As a pro I have to work at it. I try to keep myself fit and at the end of games I watch videos and analyse my performance as I am always trying to improve."
