A BLIND pensioner who lay helpless in freezing conditions for almost 12 hours after a fall at her home has died in hospital.
Miss Nora Wilcockson, 76, was only wearing a thin nightdress when she tumbled down 15 steps at her home in Beatrice Mews, Horwich on Friday night.
She lay at the bottom of the stairs until she was discovered by a district nurse at 9.30am the following morning. Miss Wilcockson was treated in Bolton Royal Infirmary for multiple fractures and severe hypothermia. She died in Bolton General Hospital.
