TEENAGERS swung into action to thwart armed raiders who struck at an off-licence.
The two thugs - one wielding an axe - struck at a shop on Spring Street, Bury last night. They rifled through a cash box and fled.
But the shopkeeper chased them and alerted a nearby group of teenagers who leapt on the fleeing pair and dragged them back towards the shop.
One of the men escaped before police arrived, but the other was apprehended, together with an axe and the stolen cash.
Today he was in custody and helping police with inquiries.
