Derby Res 3 Wanderers Res 6
FABIAN de Freitas rapped out a reminder of his scoring potential as relegation threatened Wanderers Reserves hit championship chasers Derby County for six at the Baseball ground last night.
The Dutch striker, who is Wanderers joint top scorer in the Premiership with four, scored twice as the 2nd Xl produced their best performance of the season.
They totally dominated the first 70 minutes to run up a five-goal lead before County came back into it.
Alan Thompson caused County numerous problems on the left and he opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a left foot volley from 16 yards after some enterprising build-up play involving Enzo Gambaro and Fabian de Freitas. Marcus Hallows headed the second in the 28th minute and Greg Strong was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet when his volley was cleared off the line.
Four minutes from the interval Wanderers did strike a third when Wayne Burnett's drive from the edge of the area proved too powerful for County keeper Andy Quy.
The second half was only a minute old when Thompson sprinted down the left to cross for de Freitas to fire in a low finish.
No 5 came in the 64th minute. The hard working Hallows sent over a pinpoint cross from the left to find an unmarked de Freitas who made no mistake. County hit two goals in a minute from Paul Simpson and Darren Wrack but Stuart Whittaker brought up the half dozen for Bolton when he neatly converted Thompson's inch perfect cross.
Wrack completed the scoring when he tapped in Derby's third goal two minutes from time but it was too late to prevent Wanderers recording their third consecutive away win.
