THE Scottish owners of three top Bolton hotels are planning a Stock Exchange flotation before Easter.
Macdonald Hotels, which was formed in 1990, is expected to be valued at about £80m.
It owns 16 hotels and operates a further 53 under contract.
In Bolton the company owns the Pack Horse, Nelson Square, the Last Drop at Bromley Cross and Egerton House.
Macdonald Hotels was founded in 1990 by chief executive Donald Macdonald, who was formerly managing director of the hotel division of Stakis, the hotels and casinos group.
He and other colleagues from Stakis started with two hotels in Scotland and then made further acquisitions.
The company is now making a considerable investment in its properties. "We have spent probably the best part of £1m on the Last Drop and we intend to make improvements at Egerton House," Mr Macdonald said today.
As previously reported in the Evening News, more than £1m is being spent on re-vamping the Pack Horse to return it to its former glory.
