A PUB boss was left frothing over plans that could damage his trade For the proposals were hatched at a meeting under his own roof! Conrad Thorpe, landlord at the Shoulder of Mutton in the moorland village of Holcombe, allows the Holcombe Village Preservation Society to meet in his pub once a month.

But at the society's latest meeting members drew up a package of ideas to clamp down on visitors parking in the picturesque village in the shadow of Holcombe Hill.

Among the proposals were cones, residents' passes and yellow lines.

Mr Thorpe said his pub car park in the village centre is used by residents and customers. And he claims further parking restrictions would badly hit his trade.

Mr Thorpe said: "If restrictions are enforced I will be looking at ways of making sure that the only people using the pub car park are customers.

"Car parking is not the most pressing issue in Holcombe. There is the the problem of speeding for example.

"The society is still welcome to use the pub for meetings but I wish they would keep me informed."
