LAST weekend's icy conditions did not take the heat out of the competition in the second match of the Tricast Highfield Winter Challenge series.
Thin ice and a biting wind put paid to any decent returns in the match in which John Battersby of MAP Elton A took the honours with 1 lb-13oz-11dr made up of tiny fish taken on the pole with joker. Just behind came T Horton of Ted Carters with 1lb-12oz-9dr.
Another MAP Elton A team member finished in the frame when Gary Bailey gained third spot with 1lb-7oz-2dr.
In the first match Tricast Highfield's Red and Gold Teams dominated and took the top two positions but last Sunday MAP Elton AC showed their class when their A and B teams stole the show.
