SIR: I saw your comment recently about planning councillors sensibly turning down permission for a huge mast to measure wind speed at Turton Heights Moor. It finished with: "The last thing we want is to have our local landscape despoiled".
Isn't it a great pity they don't have the same views on the planned high waste tip at Red Moss, or don't Horwich people count?
We used to play on the site as youngsters when the Dutch men were extracting peat and ride on their trolley along railway lines. It was a wildlife haven then and we were always discovering rare birds nests. So please don't despoil this site either.
