SIR: I am writing to different newspapers all around the country in the hope of setting up different groups of parents in the hope of bringing about a change in the law to make bullying a criminal offence. At the present time it isn't an offence to bully people.

Bullying has a dreadful effect not only on the victims but also on the victims' families. Many victims are afraid to tell people that they are being bullied. Maybe if different groups around the country were set up, then the victims would feel able to talk about what is happening to them and know that they would be talking to people who understood how they felt and were able to help them.

I wrote to my local newspaper because my 21-year-old son with learning difficulties was being bullied by a gang of yobs that hangs around on street corners and by a lane where we live. Jason, our son was too afraid to tell us about it in case the yobs did anything more to him.

Things won't happen overnight, but if lives can be saved in the future it will be worth the struggle. After all, bullying can happen to children and adults alike, it could even happen to our grandchildren. Please give me your support.
