BOLTON Boys Fed Under 18s fell at the final hurdle in their bid to regain the Lancashire FA Inter-League Shield.
The Fed contributed to a cracking final at Leyland Motors and were in touch until ten minutes from time before a strong South Lancashire Counties side ran out 5-2 winners. The Bolton boys counted the cost of missed chances in the first half but showed tremendous determination to come back from a goal down at half time.
Chris Longthorne's early second half equaliser cancelled out Martin Cleary's opener and inspired the Fed's most commanding period of the game.
But Neil Collins restored South Lancs' lead on 68 minutes and grabbed a second to make 3-1 five minutes later seemingly pututing the game out of the Fed's reach.
But David Haslam hit straight back and it was only in the closing stages that South Lancs made their strength tell with Cleary completing his hat-trick.
