A MOTORIST was injured when a bus careered out of control on black ice and collided with his car on a busy Bolton road.
The single decker bus skidded across the carriageway last night in Tonge Moor Road, Turner Bridge, and hit the car, which was travelling in the opposite direction.
The car driver, David Grundy, aged 27, of Brookside Close, Bradshaw, suffered whiplash and bruising. He was released after hospital treatment.
The bus driver, Deborah Ainsworth, 22, of Loxham Street, Bolton, was not hurt.
Earlier yesterday pedestrian Lillian Berry, aged 80, was seriously injured in an accident with a car in Blackburn Road, Halliwell, at 12.45pm. Mrs Berry, of Crumpsall Street, Bolton, suffered a fractured hip, and head and neck injuries.
Her condition was described as "serious" today by Bolton Royal Infirmary.
The car, a Fiat, was driven by 34-year-old Steven Perks, of Wilkinson Road, Astley Bridge.
