BOLTON mum Jackie Costello will be showing the nation tomorrow night just how proud she is of her daughter.

For daughter Sara Cox is a high-profile presenter on the controversial programme, "The Girlie Show", on Channel 4.

And Jackie will be a guest on Friday's show - just in time for Mother's Day on Sunday.

Jackie and her husband are tenants at the Pineapple pub in Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge, and she joins the mothers of Sara's fellow presenters: Rachel Williams and Claire Gorham.

For Sara, tomorrow night's show provides the ideal opportunity to say a big "thank you" to the person who has most influenced her spiralling career.

"It's not going to be a mushy show though," said Jackie. "It should be as outrageous as ever!"

Sara, aged 21 and the youngest of five children, has had a phenomenal rise to fame since the days she was a kennel maid.

She was brought up on a farm in the Bolton area and always wanted to be a policewoman, ideally working with horses.

Jackie says Sara was always a pleasant and cheerful child. At 17 she was taken on the books of a Manchester model agency and are lucky enough to be spotted for "The Girlie Show".

Says her mum: "At the moment, she's doing voice-overs for the programme's trailers and has very little time to herself, but she does come back home to see me and friends whenever it's possible, and she hasn't let fame go to her head."

Jackie married, for the second time, a publican when Sara was seven and her famous daughter loves to unwind with her family, helping out behind the bar.

Sara was a bright pupil, gaining all her GCSEs and four A-Levels at Smithills School and Canon Slade Sixth Form College - where memories of her dress style in particular still linger in the memory of staff!

Sara has no special plans for the future, reveals her mum.

"At the moment all she wants to be is a very rich and happy girl!

"The girls were a little nervous at the start, but they have grown in confidence which is reflected in the show's popularity. I think it is like The Word for girls."

As for what format the special programme tomorrow takes, Jackie's keeping mum about that. But readers can judge for themselves by watching Sara and Co at 11.05pm.
