A MAN needed hospital treatment for minor burns last night after a grill pan caught fire at his home.
Neil Bertenshaw was injured when he slipped as he attempted to carry the burning pan outside after throwing a damp towel over it.
Mr Bertenshaw, of Oakenbottom Road, Breightmet, suffered burns to his shoulder and hands. He was treated at Bolton Royal Infirmary. The cooker was damaged by fire and there was slight smoke damage to the kitchen and lounge.
A fire brigade spokesman said: "We would advise people to leave burning pans alone.
"If a pan catches fire throw a damp towel over it if possible, leave it where it is and call us out."
