SIR: Regarding the letter published recently in the BEN, I agree entirely with the sentiments of S Turner, that it was up to the parents of the child concerned to see that the food did not burn her leg. Surely the mother could have seen to this.
Also, the child in question was hardly a 'toddler'. If she could ride a new two-wheeled bike, I presume her age was between three and four years. My own grandchild is a 'toddler' at 13 months. I'm glad that Greenhalgh's were not prepared to comment. They were not to blame. They supply scores of people with something tasty to take-away. It is not their duty to act as nursemaid too.
I'm surprised that the BEN had so little news that they had their photographer take a picture of the child in question, at her own home. In a large town of some 150,000 to 170,000 people, surely you can find something better to report.
