LEIGH had a tremendous victory over the early pacesetters in the Liverpool Competition, Colwyn Bay.
Graham Duddle was once again Leigh's bowling hero as he finished with 5-36.
A late onslaught from Colwyn Bay's Australian, Hoffman, enabled them to declare on 187-9.
Greg Dimery was unable to open the batting due to an injury in the field and things went from bad to worse when Charlson was dismissed for a duck in the second over.
Skipper Dave Dove joined Steve Bailey to provide the foundation for a comfortable win.
Bailey passed 50 with ease and with the partnership worth 115, Dove was bowled just three short of his half century.
Bailey continued to dominate the bowling and he reached his century just before the winning runs came.
His innings included 11 fours and three sixes and enabled Leigh to claim 20 points to continue their fine start to the Liverpool Competition.
Next Saturday Leigh are at home (wickets pitched 2pm) to Birkenhead Park.
On Sunday Leigh bowed out of the Abbot Ale National Knockout Competition at Timperley.
Timperley batted first and made 197 all out with Derrick Ainscough the pick of Leigh's bowlers with 1-13 from his nine overs.
Leigh never came to terms with the low bounce in the Timperley wicket. Their mixture of first, second and third teamers never made an impression on the Timperley total and were disappointingly dismissed for only 78.
