DETECTIVES are hunting a vicious sex fiend who attempted to rape a woman in a secluded lane on the outskirts of Bolton last night.
The 35-year-old was attacked after she got into his car.
The man then drove the woman to a secluded spot in Ainsworth where he attempted to strangle her with a nylon stocking. He then punched the terrified woman in the face and tried to rape her but was fought off. The man being hunted by police is described as white, in his late 30s, with short hair and stockily built. He was wearing a sweatshirt and blue tracksuit bottoms.
In a separate incident a 22-year-old woman was attacked and raped in Manchester city centre last night.
The attacker held a knife at the woman's throat as she walked along Minshull Street. He dragged her to a nearby lock-up garage in Copperass Street where she was raped.
