REGENT Park golfers Colin McGreavy and Mick Smith could be on their way to the national trials of the 1996 Rover Cup Four Nations Tournament.
Each won their respective handicap band in the men's Preliminary Round but must wait until mid-July to learn whether their individual scores put them among the top 72 men who qualify for National Trial at The Warwickshire.
Playing off 11 handicap in the 11-and-under handicap section, McGreavy scored a gross 74 (nett 63) - six under the standard scratch score on the day. Mick Smith headed the 12-24 section with a gross 79 (nett 67) - two under SSS - off 12 handicap. This is the ninth year of the prestigious Rover Cup Four Nations Tournament - a premier competition for club amateur golfers. To date, all-Ireland has won four times, Wales three, and holders England once.
