BOLTON Wanderers' superstadium at Horwich has been given the go-ahead by planning councillors.
Detailed drawings of the 25,000 all-seater stadium at Red Moss were approved when they went before a meeting yesterday.
Outline planning permission has already been given.
Richard Cowley, assistant director of planning and engineering services, described it as a "very exciting and unique design which will certainly put Horwich on the map".
A report to councillors revealed that there will be a dark blue roof which will be suspended from four pylons.
The walls will be a combination of a "shimmering silver and white panels".
Red trims are being used for the windows to "reflect the colours of the team and reflect a stunning visual effect when the stadium is viewed from the link road, especially at night when floodlit".
The Wanderers' blue and white strip is trimmed with red.
The final go ahead is also expected any day now from Environment Secretary John Gummer for the whole of the "sports village" complex on the Red Moss site.
This also includes shopping, business, housing and other leisure uses.
Meanwhile, an advert has gone out calling for contractors to put in bids to carry out work on the development.
Council chiefs and developers The Emerson Group want companies to put in tenders for the infrastructure works.
This includes the road network, drainage and landscaping.
The advert says that the work should be completed by July 1, 1997.
