POSSIBLY the only good news in the cattle world to break through the monotony of the beef crisis comes from Spain.

The death of a former matador, Luis Miguel Dominguin, has received far too much prominence in British newspapers.

In life this person apparently attracted the adoring attention of such glamorous stars as Lauren Bacall, Ava Gardner, Brigitte Bardot (presumably before her pro-creature crusades), Rita Hayworth and Olivia de Havilland.

Which only proves that even good-looking rich women are drawn to bull.

Much has been written of the dead man's cloak-flourishing.

But so far no obituary has recorded the major fact of the matador/big game hunter's life - that it was meaningless and unremarkable apart from his need to maim, torture and kill animals.
