SIR: I spent a glorious sunny day indoors at the Senior Citizens Talent Contest at the Albert Halls and witnessed the sunshine of smiles depicted on the faces of the audience!
This once-a-year contest was well attended and representatives from the Bolton Evening News, Whitbread Breweries and of course, the sponsors of Crompton Place gave of their time and monies to ensure that this yearly treat would be a success! The Deputy Mayor Cllr and Mrs Tom Anderton were, as usual, most courteous, friendly and supportive to the artists and audience alike for which we thank them.
The comedienne, Mrs Janet Moss, a working senior citizen whose spare time is mainly spent in supporting Cancer charities, came second, having come second and first previously. Her well-written monologues were saucy, topical and extremely humorous, thus keeping the Lancastrian heritage theme of "work hard - and play hard" alive. All the winners deserved their cut glass bowls.
See you at Morecambe!
