SIR: On behalf of Lion President Tim Hilton, I wish to thank all who supported our Bolton Lions April Amble (the charity ramble) on Sunday April 21, in raising funds for Bolton Shopmobility.
In particular the 64 walkers and their sponsors, and certainly the Mayoral guests from both Chorley and Bolton; the Shopmobolity party, Chorley Lions President and his wife; all those who gave donations and the St John Ambulance personnel. We were grateful too, for the expert accompaniment of members of the Holiday Fellowship (Bolton branch).
It was good to see the young people who gave of their time and energy from some of the High Schools approached at very short notice. Among these were Michelle and Glenda Green, and Delicia Evans of Rivington and Blackrod High; Westley Naylor of Westhoughton High; Andrew Heywood of Turton High; Angela Smith, Suzanne Hart, Laura Tomlinson, Helen Hayes and Nisha Roye of Bolton School (Girls Division).
All the walkers thoroughly enjoyed the day, which could well be repeated on an annual basis with so many fine walks available to us in the area. The amount raised will be notified once all of the sponsorship money is received.
