BRITISH Aerospace turned the Bolton Association on its head yesterday when they dismissed Clifton for only 35 in the first round of the Cross Cup.
Aero pro John Nuttall and Ian Wainman wrapped up the innings in 20 overs as they had the Clifton batsmen trooping back to the pavilion in quick succession.
Nuttall, in his first season at the club after joining them from Lancashire League side Bacup, finished with five wickets for 14 while Wainman had 4-19 before Aero went on to book their second round place reaching 36-0.
Darcy Lever also hit trouble when they took on Walshaw. At first all seemed to be going well as they dismissed the Bury side for 103, Richard Sutcliffe claiming 4-16 and pro Mike Scothern 3-31. But then they could not get to grips with the bowling of Simon Marsh and Colin Crouch and were all out for 51. Marsh finished with figures of 6-23 while Crouch had 4-26.
Little Hulton eased through to the next round with a ten wicket win over Astley and Tyldesley. Charles Dagnall hit 66 for A & T but Little Hulton's Aussie pro Tim O'Sullivan had 5-37 while wicketkeeper Rob Clews had three catches and a stumping as the home side folded to 123 all out.
Little Hulton completed the victory in fine style, David Ainsworth 61 not out and Andy Mawson 56 not out in a total of 126-0.
Edgworth, one of the fancied teams for success this seson, were thrashed at Standish.
The Wigan side posted an impressive 211-6, Simon Maiden 57, Mark Ramsdale following up Saturday's century with 56 and Peter Walder 41 not out. They then shot out Edgworth for a mere 78, pro Andy Cumberbatch taking 6-33 and Steve Knowles chipping in with 4-13.
Daisy Hill looked good as they knocked out Golborne. They reached 182 with skipper John Hopkins hitting 96 before dismissing Golborne for 146, pro Chris Jones picking up a six wicket haul for 52 runs.
Blackrod also turned the form book upside down with a 50 run win over current league leaders Spring View.
Gary Speak hit 37 as he led Blackrod from 13-2 to an impressive 159-7 then Andy Ingham took 5-49 as Spring View were bowled out for 109.
