THE popular Mini Le-Mans pedal car race will keep on rolling.
Fears that the race, a major Bolton charity event over the past 16 years, would have to be scrapped have been lifted, thanks to Bolton Round Table.
The race was under threat because of a failure to attract financial support, and council cut-backs.
But the Round Tablers stepped in at the eleventh hour to provide full financial and technical support to allow the event to go on.
The race will now be called the Bolton Round Table Mini Le-Mans. It will continue to be held at Moss Bank Park and will take place from Friday May 31 to Saturday June 1.
Bolton Round Table chairman, Chris Cox, said: "We have been involved with the Mini Le-Mans over the last few years and have been impressed by the hard work which goes into organising the event.
"This most demanding race attracts thousands of spectators and hundreds of competitors. We could not just sit back and let this great Bolton tradition fold." Bolton Round Table intend to try to raise the profile of the Mini Le-Mans and introduce other attractions for the spectators.
The organisation has acquired spare pedal cars for teams who want to enter but do not have cars of their own.
