A WORKSHOP that was damaged by floods is back in business today at Bolton College.
The Flexible Learning Workshop on the second floor of the Manchester Road Campus, was severely damaged by an overnight flood last October.
Today the facility - which provides English, Maths and Information Technology support for students on other courses as well as a drop-in facility for people who want to gain basic English and Maths skills - opens its doors to the public again.
The new look workshop was designed and developed by staff in consultation with past and present students to ensure it met their studying needs, with easy access to computers, learning materials and support staff.
The lay-out is designed to reflect the informal, friendly and supportive atmosphere that flexible learning staff have created over the years helping students to succeed on their college courses by providing any extra tuition they might need. "Though the flood in October was a real blow, I am delighted that it failed to dampen the enthusiasm and commitment of flexible learning staff and students," said Cllr Cliff Morris, Chairman of the college governors.
"The last six months has been a difficult time for them but their patience and hard work has been rewarded by this splendid new facility that is bound to inspire everyone who uses it to strive to reach their full potential," he added.
