WIGAN'S in-form Andy Farrell is confident the champions can carry on where they left off at Halifax when they travel to Cumbria on Saturday night, writes DAVID MAGILTON.

The Riversiders showed no mercy as they ran in 50 points against the Blue Sox who were down to 12 men for most of the game.

But the way his side rammed home their advantage to maintain the pressure on title rivals St Helens delighted the giant loose-forward.

He said: "To keep Halifax to four points was tremendous. In the past when we have got a few points we have slackened off but it was a really professional job and I am very proud of the lads.

"We have some big matches coming up but our form is getting a little bit better as the season goes on. We are looking forward to the Workington game on Saturday and then to do a job against Bath before facing Leeds away.

"We expect a really tough game at Workington. It is always hard to play there and the crowd get behind them but hopefully we will get the same result."

Wigan are waiting on Henry Paul's ankle injury but have already ruled out Scott Quinnell with a groin strain. The second-row man who will join Richjmond at the end of June, has withdrawn from the Wales team for the forthcoming European Championship with France and England.

Nigel Wright plays his first game in the Alliance side tonight after being sidelined with a bad knee injury for several months.
