SIR: We often return from our travels with small change from the countries we have visited. I would like to ask for parents, teachers and pupils among your readers to support a project which will raise funds for Help the Aged using such 'un-wanted' foreign coins.
The Travelex Exchange for Age project involves pupils bringing unwanted foreign coins into school for study and collection. Not only will the children raise funds for help the Aged's work but they will be introduced to many new foreign cultures and currencies. When the project is finished, the coins will then be exchanged into £s sterling to Help the Aged by Travelex foreign coin services. We are currently holding over £27 million worth of foreign coins at home which we cannot exchange through the banks. Let us use this money to broaden the scope of Help the Aged's assistance for frail, isolated and poor older people across the world. To receive a schools pack, please ring Ann Whitaker on the Exchange for Age line Tel. 0113 279 6000.
