IT'S good news that the former Co-op supermarket site in Bolton town centre finally is to become a shopping complex.
The old building was levelled in 1991, although the elegant stone facade retained. Since then, the empty land has been a scar on the face of our busy centre.
A Manchester-based firm has revealed that a £6 million shops' scheme in the offing with at least two major retailers already interested. This plan is welcome as a way of completing Bolton's central retailing image. And it also helps to prove to outside interested parties that the town is determined to provide real opposition for Dumplington, or any other rival shopping complex.
