A NEW tennis complex in Worsley is set to create up to 120 new jobs in the next 12 months.

David Lloyd Leisure plc has applied to build a complex boasting 10 indoor and eight outdoor tennis courts, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a fitness centre with gym, saunas and an aerobics studio. The site for the proposed club is on land to the south of Worsley Road. The site was chosen due to its convenient location close to Junction 13 of the M63. The planned development has the support of the Lawn Tennis Association.

Its chief executive Ian Peacock said: "The proposed centre is particularly well situated and is easily accessible to a large catchment area. It would be a great asset to the citizens of the area and to British tennis." The application will be considered by the Salford City Council's planning committee on May 23.
