THIS forenoon, Arnold Taylor, Esq., Her Majesty's Inspector from the Local Government Act Office, attended at the Coroner's Court for the purpose of formally inquiring into any opposition that might be offered against the proposed improvements sought to be carried out by the Corporation by a Provision Order made under the Local Government Act. The improvements proposed include the district of Old Acres; extension of Burns-street; widening of Blackhorse-street; and the sewage works at Burnden, including the construction of outfall works for the reception and disposal of the sewage at the outlet of the intercepting sewer, and the lands required and proposed to be taken for the said outfall, situate in the township of Haulgh. In respect of the latter works, the Inspector was informed that the application would be abandoned, and the works carried out under an arrangement which had been made with the Earl of Bradford.
