IT'S the end of another highly exciting season on the local soccer front and I thought it might be a good time to list the Roll of Honour for all our local amateur competitions.
BOLTON SPORTS FEDERATION VETERANS LEAGUE
Another cracking season for the Over 35s league with Little Hulton United achieving an amazing third consecutive league and cup 'double'. Turton Vets also did the region proud in the Umbro Nationwide competition winning all the way through to the Northern Final before bowing out to Billingham Synthonia. Division 1: Champions - Little Hulton Utd. Runner up - Bolton Wyresdale.
Division 1 Cup: Champions - Bolton Wyresdale, Runners up - Barnes Passage.
Division 2: Champions - Ainsworth Fossils, Runners up - Horwich Town.
Division 2 Cup: Champions - Horwich Town, Runners Up - Ainsworth Fossils.
Sam Ashworth Trophy: Champions - Little Hulton United, Runners up - Hayward. BOLTON HOSPITAL CUP
Champions - Haslingden, Runners up - Eagley.
The best organised, best supported, most enthralling Bolton Hospital Cup for many a long season saw NWCL Division Two side Haslingden triumph in the final over West Lancs Division One side Eagley.
This year's tournament will be long remembered however as the one that put this end of season event right back where it rightfully belongs as the region's top knockout trophy!
For the first time since 1970, 32 teams went into the hat for the first round and next season promises to be better than ever! WESTHOUGHTON CHARITY CUP
Champions - Little Hulton United, Runners up - Salford City.
This superb beginning of campaign tournament seemed to lose a little bit of impetus last season but hopefully the resurgence of the Hospital Cup will breathe new life into this competition which is over 100 years old and centres around Daisy Hill Football Club.
Applications are being invited now to Jimmy Hulton on 01942 253114 or Bob Naylor on 01942 813720. ATHERTON CHARITY CUP
Two cracking semi-finals this week set the scene for what should be a superb final at Alder House tomorrow afternoon.
Hindley Town beat Atherton Town 2-0 but the other meeting certainly upped the pulse rate as Pennington settled a totally absorbing encounter with a goal in the last few minutes to beat Cheadle Town 4-3.
Final tomorrow at Atherton Colls Alder House ground, kick off 2.30pm. HORWICH SUNDAY LEAGUE

Ian Briggs, General Secretary enthuses: "It has been another cracking season for us in the Pioneer Sunday League. It is only our fourth year in existence and this season we have grown to two divisions of 10 clubs.
"Apart from Corondale winning the Division One title, King William of Boothstown mopped up, although they only just pipped Robin Rovers in the final game of the season which coincidentally became the decider for the runners up slot. It was good to see Lion of Vienna recover from a poor start and only lose one in the last eight matches. Another pleasing aspect was seeing two second division sides, BS Heating and Crofters make it to the Cup Finals."
Division 1: Champions - Corondale, runners up - King William.
Division 2: Champions - Masons Arms, Runners up - BS Heating.
Josie A White Trophy: Champions - King William, runners up - BS Heating.
Chris Electronics Trophy: Champions - King William, runners up - Crofters.
Sportsmanship Award: Salford Chemics. BOLTON REFEREES SOCIETY
One group of gentlemen that certainly have earned the right to put their feet up and take it easy over the summer months are our genuine heroes on the local scene - the referees!
They do a superb job that just sometimes isn't appreciated. One of those little things that sticks in my mind from this season was a voice booming out at one game, "Referee... the bell's fallen off your hat!" Ah well!
Society Merit Trophy - Bill Bancroft.
Ken Dagnall Senior Progress Trophy - Mick Morledge.
Harry Pilkington Junior Progress Trophy - Doug Greenhalgh.
Ray Ennion, Society Chairman, "It has been a wonderful season for promotion for us with several of our member referees being upgraded to Class 1 level and two promoted to Contributory League Middle. It was marvellous to see Bill Bancroft awarded the Merit Trophy for outstanding service to the Society, as it is only the second time ever that one person has been rewarded with this honour twice. This is a momentous time for us as we are now moving into our centenary season." BOLTON COMBINATION
