SIR: Two issues raised in the BEN recently are too important to overlook:
1. Guns. Your Editorial says: "There must not be any mistakes". There can't be if guns are banned. There is NO reason to shoot anything. I'm with Billy Connolly on this, anyone who wants one is clearly irresponsible.
2. Nynex. Clearly both BBC and ITV will have all the channels we need in the near future - and who wants to watch TV with such glorious weather? Bolton people have stood up for themselves since the Romans stayed away from fear. Stand up for yourselves now. Rip up your cable contracts, then they'll stop ripping up our town, which is in Lancashire, not Greater Manchester.
Don't just write to the papers, fight back.
Bill Brierley, Blackshaw House, Bolton.
