We have read your report of the result of the Judicial Review in The High Court (May 5). You have stated in your report that "Century Motors found themselves in the cold when not sub-contracted themselves by the AA" and stated that we were ordered to pay the AA's costs. Both these statements are incorrect.
We as a company did not apply for this contract and wrote to AAD notifying them of our decision and the reasons for our refusal, prior to the application date. Furthermore as there are many details of the contract that Mr Justice Popplewell considered needed revision, he only awarded costs for Greater Manchester Police. The AA's costs have to be paid by Automobile Association Developments Ltd.
The Road Rescue Recovery Association considers that the matter should be referred to the Appeals Court.
