EARLY this morning, a fire broke out on the premises of Messrs Danchell and Co., the Peat Works, Red Moss, Horwich. A messenger was despatched for the fire brigade at Wallsuches, Horwich, who, with their engine "Wellington", succeeded in extinguishing the fire, but not before the flames had destroyed the boiler house and joiners' shop. It is rumoured this morning that the conduct of the watchman will be inquired into. The reported damage is about £300.
