BOLTON and North-west Manchester branch of the National Childbirth Trust offer their support to breastfeeding mothers this week.
It's Breastfeeding Awareness Week and, as Dr Peter Elton, director of public health for Wigan and Bolton, says: "Breastfeeding is natural and healthy.
"Women should not have to stay at home to breastfeed. We are pleased that shops and others are making it easier for women to breastfeed."
With this in mind, the NCT is to present Breastfeeding Friendly Certificates - with the backing of the Joint Breastfeeding Initiative Group based at the Princess Anne Maternity Unit - to three Bolton stores today.
They are: Mothercare, BHS and Debenhams. Other stores to be awarded the Certificates are: Sainsbury's, Tesco at Horwich, Beaumont Motel and Turton Heights.
