SIr: A number of large employers have launched a campaign against "ageism", discrimination against older workers. It would be interesting to see how local authorities and other public sector employers measure up in this regard. It is now virtually unknown for a Public Sector worker to continue working until their 65th birthday. Immense pressure is put on these individuals to leave, as they are regarded as "inflexible" which usually means that they are unwilling to kow tow to the latest aggressive management regimes.
