SIR: As you go round the town you see shop after shop empty, or a notice in the window closing down.
Then I read in the BEN that the powers that be in the Town Hall, tell a man in Bridge Street that he is obstructing the pavement by displaying furniture and that he must move it. This could cause losses in jobs or even force him to close down, due to loss of trade.
Half the time I think people in the Town Hall, have these purges to justify their own cushy jobs. Why don't they walk round the precinct and town centre, see people riding bikes and causing obstructions and accidents?
What about the winos sitting on the forms? Are they not causing obstructions? Why don't they shift them, and leave honest traders alone?
