DAVID Young, the Labour MP for Bolton South East, says he is pleased at the news, revealed in the BEN, that the District Labour Party has filled the posts which were made vacant when three of its top officials resigned following a row with regional officers.
In March, chairman John Hartshorne, vice-chairman Peter Boardman, and secretary Rosa Kay, quit their posts following a bitter dispute with regional headquarters over the selection of a local government candidate in Bromley Cross.
DLP officers said the selection was null and void, but regional officers over-ruled their decision and allowed the candidate to stand.
But at a meeting last week the empty posts were filled and in a surprise move Rosa Kay accepted her nomination as secretary and was selected. Mr Young said: "The people who resigned from Bolton DLP did so because they could not accept the ruling of the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party or were unwilling to accept it."
He added: "I am very glad to see that Rosa Kay, who was one of the nominations, was reselected as secretary."
