THE family of a Bolton man is still waiting for his body to be flown home from Tenerife where he died after a street attack.
Michael Hulse - who was known to his family and friends as Joe - died in the Canary Islands' main hospital in Santa Cruz on April 29.
Two men, also from Bolton, were arrested and have had their passports seized while police continue their inquiries into the violent death of 38-year-old Mr Hulse, pictured, of Solent Drive, Darcy Lever. But members of Mr Hulse's family are upset that they have not been able to hold a funeral, almost a month after his death. His brother Nigel said: "We are waiting for the Governor of Tenerife to sign a form for the release of the body. The whole process is very slow. "We have been told the only flights to Tenerife are on Tuesday and Friday. If his body is not released by Tuesday, then we will be into June before we can arrange a funeral."
Meanwhile, a fun day aimed at raising funds to fly the body home is being held today from 11am to 7pm at the Stag's Head, St Helens Road, Daubhill.
