VANDALS have wrecked a toilet block in a Bolton park just a year after an expensive revamp.
The yobs smashed through padlocks to break into the toilets at Morris Green Park and shattered the newly installed sinks, toilet bowls and cisterns.
Wreckers caused the community hall next door to be demolished 18 months ago.
But the council pledged to keep the toilets open and thousands of pounds were spent renovating the building inside and out.
Staff tried to deter yobs by stepping up security but were forced to close the toilets after the latest wrecking spree.
Now parks boss John Shepley concedes the vandals may have won and cannot rule out the block closing long term.
He said: "I hope we have not reached that stage yet and we will be doing everything in our power to keep the facilities open.
"When we have all the estimates for the repairs we will make a decision about what happens next.
"But we have had problems here for a long time and it is extremely expensive to keep repairing them time after time."
One local resident, who did not want to be identified for fear of reprisals, said: "The corporation spend all that money for the vandals to come along and smash everything to smithereens.
"It would be better if they let the animals out of their cages and locked up these kids."
