BOLTON Harriers entered two teams in the National Road Relays at Heaton Park, Manchester.

Both teams performed exceptionally well with the younger age group team finishing sixth overall out of 33 teams.

Sue Selby, in her first race for the Bolton Vets team, led off on the first leg and ran brilliantly to hand over in third position to Lynne Flatman, who kept Bolton in contention for the medals with a fine run for fourth position.

Christine Price (former Commonwealth Games finalist for Scotland) ran the anchor leg and brought the team home in sixth position. It was an excellent run after coming back from injury and only a few weeks into her training.

The 45 years team did even better, led off by Christine Parker, the Great Britain team manager. Christine handed over in fifth position after an excellent opening leg.

Patricia Parr ran very well to record a Personal Best before handing over to Gillian Rimmer for the anchor leg. Gill ran strongly to pull through the field and bring the team home in third place overall and a well-deserved bronze medal. The 35 years race was won by Macclesfield Harriers with Bolton sixth. The 45 years race was won by Bingley Harriers with Bolton third.

Times: Sue Selby 18.42; Lynne Flatman 19.52; Christine Price 19.26; Chris Parker 20.28; Pat Parr 24.24; Gill Rimmer 20.34.
