A HOUSING association is close to completing a new development in Kearsley.
St Vincent's Housing Association is building homes for rent on the site of the former town yard.
There will be 25 properties designed to accommodate a range of needs, including families and retired people, and will include fitted kitchens, central heating, energy-efficient insulation and burglar alarms.
Cllr Jim Alker, who visited the site with Cllrs Brian Iddon and Pauline Spencer and housing officer Paul Thompson, said: "This venture will provide superb homes for families in the area.
"We are hoping to provide further facilities adjacent to Thomas Moore Court. There should be a real community atmosphere here."
