LOCAL golfers gave good accounts of themselves in the Lancashire Amateur Championship with 11 of yesterday's final 40 qualifiers coming from the area, writes David Magilton.
Young Gareth Hastie from Dunscar was lying in fourth place after the first two rounds at Lostock and finally finished on 296, just 13 shots adrift of champion Gary Boardman of Castle Hawk, who retained his title from Stuart Andrew of Clitheroe. Deane's Andy Runciman finished the best of the local contingent with four solid rounds for 294.
