A MOTHER and her two children had a lucky escape when their Suzuki car overturned after careering out of control on a rainwashed Bolton road.

Mrs Olwyn Owen, aged 35, lost control of the vehicle after braking hard to avoid a car ahead of her on Loxham Street, Moses Gate, last night.

Police said the Suzuki mounted the pavement and a grass verge before overturning.

Mrs Owen of Matthews Lane, Manchester, suffered whiplash and minor cuts and bruises. Her daughter Katie, aged 12, sustained bruising. Mrs Owen's son, Luke, aged seven, was not injured.

The accident happened at 8.30pm as Mrs Owen was driving along Loxham Street, towards Hall Lane. Police are still appealing for witnesses to two accidents in Bolton last Thursday. In one of the accidents a blind man was injured in an accident with a car as he was crossing Stopes Road, Little Lever, at 4.30pm. In the second more than three hours later, a pedestrian was injured in an accident with a motorcycle in Manchester Road, Kearsley.

Any witnesses to either accident are asked to contact the Bolton Police traffic unit.
