SIR: I was stunned to read your front page announcement of a multi-million pound leisure complex for the Tonge Valley. While this is great news for Bolton, it is a kick in the teeth for thousands of Wanderers fans like myself.
Did the directors of BWFC know about this scheme? If they did, did they inquire about moving there as part of the scheme? They have been hell-bent on moving to Horwich from day one, regardless of what ordinary fans feel.
A new stadium in Tonge Valley would have been a perfect site; no residents to annoy, not two minutes from the town centre, and a road system already in place to cope with increased traffic on match days. What Bolton fans will end up with is a stadium miles out of town and, if the council get their way, with the biggest stinking tip in Europe as our next door neighbour.
Thanks for nothing, BWFC.
