ONE of the country's leading children's charities is looking for volunteers to help with its work with children in the Bolton area.
The NSPCC, which deals solely with child abuse, is looking for volunteers to assist with several projects in Bolton.
Under the "Buddies" scheme volunteers will befriend a group of children who have special needs and introduce them to leisure services which are provided by Bolton Council's leisure department.
The scheme is partnership between the NSPCC, Bolton's social services and Bolton's leisure services.
Volunteers are also needed to assist staff providing group work services for isolated women and their children, as well as providing "drop in" services for people living in homeless accommodation in Bolton. All volunteers will be required to complete an application form and attend a selection interview. Those who are successful will also be required to attend a 10-week training programme. Volunteers who are to work with children and their families will be subject to Police checks.
Anyone interested should write to Jan Whitehouse, project co-ordinator, NSPCC, 175 Station Road, Swinton, telephone 0161-794 0837.
