A NEIGHBOUR who disturbed a burglar was threatened with a sawn-off shotgun and a hammer.
The man went into the back garden of the adjoining house in Newearth Road, Ellenbrook, Worsley, after he heard noises at about 8.20pm on Sunday night.
The neighbour was threatened with the gun and had the hammer thrown at him.
The attacker was a white man, in his early 20s, of slim build and about 5ft 10. He had short dark hair, bushy eyebrows and a moustache. He was wearing a three-quarter length jacket and jeans.
The attacker got away in a white Nissan Bluebird which was stolen from Farnworth earlier this month.
A variety of tools had been taken from the garden shed. Anyone with information should contact Swinton CID on 0161 872 5050. A THUG who beat a barman unconscious with a metal bar was still being hunted by detectives today.
As reported in the BEN last night, the attacker rampaged through the Victoria British Queen in Blackburn Road, Halliwell, in the early hours of Monday grabbing the night's takings.
Barman Nigel Brittain was knocked unconscious and landlady Elaine Gornall was punched in the face.
Landlord David Holmes has offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of the wanted man.
He is white, 6ft tall with short blond hair and medium build. He was wearing a cream/brown checked shirt and beige trousers. Anyone with information should contact Astley Bridge CID on 0161 872 5050.
